The Philippine Tourism Week was an ambitious move of the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA) that bundled together different activities and events to market the Philippines in a well rounded approach. It aimed to raise awareness on the importance, benefits of the industry and the challenges that the country has to meet in its target of 10 million foreign tourist arrivals in 2016. The one week celebration was anchored on: “The Business of Tourism is For the People, By the People and For the People”.
Every activity during the week was worth running to have a major promotion on the tourism industry wherein the public had a bigger view of the endless possibilities of fun to experience in Philippine Travel. For our members and other related tourism stakeholders, it opened an avenue to reach wider consumer population and exposure. It was also a good marketing involvement with the National government to encourage more people to support the tourism industry’s full development and to raise the standard of our services through a well thought regulation and policy implementation. The week also provided an opportunity for the future tourism leaders and players in the country by having them take part in the forums and actual encounter of people during the business interaction.
The Philippine Tourism Week is envisioned to become a yearly event and we hope that it becomes an official event through Presidential declaration to be celebrated every last week of September, starting on a Monday and ending on Sunday. A yearly tourism week is an excellent idea to support the Philippine Tourism Industry to reach its full growth, development and sustainability.
